Globe valves are linear action valves and are primarily designed to stop, start, and regulate flow. The disc of a globe valve can be completely removed from the flow path or can completely close the flow path.
Globe valves are widely used to control flow. To prevent premature failure and ensure satisfactory service, flow control, pressure drop, and duty range must be considered in valve design. Valves subjected to high differential pressure drop service require specially designed valve trim.
